Illuminated Manuscript Project
The purpose of this project was to choose a style of artwork and/or artist and replicate their work using the same aesthetics and methods as were originally used. The particular concept I chose to recreate is Illuminated Manuscripts from the Middle Ages. This form of artwork primarily plays off of typography that is highly decorative and colorful. There is a modern day artist and typographer named Jessica Hische whose designs are heavily reflective of Illuminated Manuscripts, so I decided to incorporate her style of work into this project as well. Ultimately, I chose to create a drop-cap "B" that mimics the work of Jessica Hische, while also demonstrating the same concepts seen in classic Illuminated Manuscripts.
